Türkiye Kicks Off India Destination Promotion Event 2025 in Kolkata

Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Republic of Turkey, in collaboration with the Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), recently launched the Türkiye India Destination Promotion Event 2025 in Kolkata. The event, held at Gallery Hyatt Centric, Kolkata, marked the start of a six-city roadshow aimed at strengthening tourism ties between Türkiye and India.
The event brought together key stakeholders from both countries, encouraging discussions on tourism collaboration. B2B meetings connected Turkish suppliers with Indian travel professionals, focusing on luxury travel, MICE tourism, and wedding destinations. Presentations and interactive sessions showcased Türkiye’s diverse tourism offerings, building on past promotional efforts.
Prominent officials in attendance included Onur Gözet, Deputy Director General for Promotion, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, The Republic of Turkey; Basak Onsal Demir, Counsellor for Culture and Tourism, Embassy of the Republic of Turkey; and Cagla Yontem, Director for MICE (Wedding & Incentives), TGA. Around 30 Turkish tourism partners, including luxury hotels and tour operators, engaged with over 200 Indian travel professionals. Interest in Türkiye as a destination has grown by 20 percent in 2024, supported by improved air connectivity through Turkish Airlines and IndiGo.
Gözet emphasized Türkiye’s focus on promoting lesser-known destinations beyond Istanbul and Cappadocia, offering Indian tourists deeper cultural experiences. He noted that Kolkata’s rich heritage made it an ideal location to launch the roadshow.
Following Kolkata, the event will continue in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai, demonstrating Turkey’s dedication to the Indian market and expanding tourism ties.
