Tourism Malaysia’s Grandest Sales Push in India

Tourism Malaysia’s Grandest Sales Push in India

Tourism Malaysia is geared up to organize its largest Sales Mission campaign in India between February 3-7, 2025, focusing on MICE, wedding tourism, and leisure travel. The mission will cover key cities in Southern India—Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kochi—a region that accounted for over 50 percent of Malaysia’s 1 million Indian visitors in 2024.

A 62-member delegation from Tourism Malaysia will participate in the mission to strengthen travel industry partnerships and position Malaysia as a top travel destination. These initiatives support Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) campaign to welcome 1.6 million Indian visitors while advancing the national target of securing 35.6 million international visitors by 2026.

The strong flight connections from Southern India to Malaysia will be instrumental in boosting this market growth. Easy access has been established through the combination of 151 weekly flights serving 26,686 seats. IndiGo Airlines now serves Penang and Langkawi directly with daily flights while continuing its operation to Kuala Lumpur.

Indian travelers benefit from Malaysia’s visa-free entry, valid until December 31, 2026. This 30-day visa exemption, introduced in December 2023, provides short-term entry while removing unnecessary documentation which has resulted in substantial growth of tourist arrivals.

Tourism Malaysia officials state that the nation attracts numerous business events, destination weddings, and leisure travelers, because of its world-class convention centers, opulent resorts, and multidimensional cultural packages. Malaysia continues to enhance connectivity, enrich visitor experiences, and strengthen tourism ties with India ahead of VMY2026.
