Torch Relay for Chess Olympiad Arrives in Hyderabad

Torch Relay for Chess Olympiad Arrives in Hyderabad Lately the first-ever Chess Olympiad Torch Relay arrived in Hyderabad. V Srinivas Goud, Telangana’s Minister of Sports, and Youth Services, accepted the torch from Grandmasters Harika Dronavalli and Arjun Erigaisi. Earlier, Grandmaster Praveen Thipsay presented the torch to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Raipur.

The torch relay finished its Odisha leg on July 15, visiting Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Agartala, Namsai, Dibrugarh, Itanagar, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, Dharamshala, Shimla, Chandigarh, Patiala, Amritsar, Panipat, Gurugram, Kurukshetra, Dehradun, Haridwar, Meerut, Kanpur, Kevadia, Ahmedabad, Dandi, Surat, Jaipur, Daman, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Panaji, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jhansi, Gangtok, Siliguri, Kohima, Gangtok, Shillong, Guwahati, and Siliguri are among the other cities covered by the torch relay so far.

Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the torch relay. The relay of the torch began in Leh. The torch will travel to 75 cities over the course of 40 days before arriving in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. The Chess Olympiad is being held in over 200 countries.

Chess grandmasters will be presented with the torch at various locations. The 44th edition of the world’s largest chess tournament will be held in Mahabalipuram from July 28-August 10, 2022.
