Suzlon Bags 302.4 MW Wind Energy Project from Jindal Renewables
Suzlon Energy Ltd, a leading wind energy solutions provider, has secured a 302.4 MW wind power project by strengthening its business collaboration with Jindal Renewables (JRPL). Awarded by JSP Green Wind 1 Pvt Ltd, a Jindal Renewables subsidiary, the project will be set up in Karnataka’s Koppal region to back India’s green steel production. This becomes the second big deal in two months signed between Suzlon and Jindal Renewables, the first one being a 400 MW captive wind power project in the same region. Combined, they constitute the largest Commercial and Industrial (C&I) portfolio order from a single player. C&I customers now account for 56 percent of Suzlon’s all-time high order book of 5.4 GW.
Suzlon will supply 96 state-of-the-art S144 wind turbine generators with hybrid lattice towers, each with a capacity of 3.15 MW. The produced energy will help existing steel plants in Chhattisgarh and Odisha to be sustainable and help meet India’s renewable energy target of achieving 50 percent electricity generation from non-fossil fuel by 2030. This collaboration—as per Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman, Suzlon Group—propels the company’s mutual green steel endeavor and is a major shot in the arm for India’s renewable energy goals. Suzlon shares rose by 3.85 percent after the announcement, ending at INR 67.92, indicating investor optimism.
