Stellantis Pioneering EV Exports from India
Following India’s recent EV policy, the nation is emerging as a major hub for electric vehicle (EV) exports in Southeast Asia. Stellantis NV, a key automotive player, is leveraging this opportunity by launching EV exports from India, starting with its Citroen brand.
Aditya Jairaj, CEO and MD, Stellantis India, highlighted the company’s ambition to lead the charge in EV exports from the country, in line with its ‘Make in India’ initiative. The company aims to pioneer the export of EVs from its Indian manufacturing base, setting a significant milestone in the country’s automotive export sector. This includes exporting Jeep vehicles from India to other Southeast Asian markets and Africa.
As the company forges ahead with its export strategy, other global players are also eyeing the Indian EV market. This move underscores India’s growing significance in the global electric vehicle landscape, attracting attention and investments from prominent industry players including Tesla Inc and Panasonic Energy Co Ltd.
