Skift India Summit 2024 Turned out a Success
The recently concluded Skift India Summit 2024, hosted by Global Hotel Alliance (GHA) and the alliance’s major hotel brand in India, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, at The Leela Ambience Gurugram Hotel and Residences, showcased India’s immense tourism potential.
This event presented the opportunities in the travel industry, which is forecast to reach 80 million international trips annually by 2040. Chris Hartley, CEO, GHA, emphasized the growth trajectory in India, with plans to expand the hotel portfolio and enhance the benefits of the alliance’s loyalty program for Indian travelers.
Generating US$ 68 million in revenues in 2023, GHA DISCOVERY members marked a record-breaking year for the GHA in India. The Indian membership in the alliance surged by 21 percent to 540,000 members. Notably, revenue from these members was well balanced, with 51 percent coming from domestic sources and 49 percent from international sources.
The outbound revenue from India members at GHA hotels hit an all-time high of US$ 60 million, surpassing the pre-pandemic figure of 2019. These members favored outbound destinations such as Singapore, Thailand, and the UAE. Conversely, inbound travel to India was fueled by top source markets like the US, UK, and Australia.
