Secunderabad Cantonment Board Approves Telecom Infrastructure Expansion
Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) has invited telecom service providers to develop telecom infrastructure like underground optical fiber cable networks, aerial cabling, and telecom towers within its limits, but they must finish digging before June 30 because no permissions will be given between July 1 and September 15.
For the first time, the SCB has approved the Right of Way (RoW) Rules under the Indian Telegraph Right of Way Rules 2016 to speed up telecom infrastructure construction in the Cantonment limits.
Service providers could establish infrastructure on defence grounds outside of Cantonment (Class āCā) land. Telecom firms need only submit intimation and construction information to install a mobile tower or pole on private property. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) informed all cantonment board chief executive officers, including SCB, that any application for under/overground telecom infrastructure in defence land must be processed in accordance with the Indian Telegraph Right of Way Rules, 2016.
SCB approved the service provider (applicant) administrative fee structure. Telecom companies require approval to put optical fiber along roadways, electricity poles, and bridges/culverts.
