Safran to Set Up Maintenance Facility in Hyderabad and Create 1,000 Jobs
Telangana IT & Industries Minister K T Rama Rao announced that the French aviation giant Safran Group will set up a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility for its aircraft engines in Hyderabad at an initial investment of US$150 million (around ₹1,200 crore), creating around 1,000 new job opportunities.
He stated that the MRO and engine test cell will service its market-leading Leap 1A and Leap 1B aero-engines, which are used by domestic and international commercial airlines. This engine MRO project will have a massive multiplier effect on Telangana’s Aerospace manufacturing and Aviation ecosystem, and that with this significant investment, Hyderabad has established itself as India’s most vibrant and happening Aerospace Valley.
In recent years, Hyderabad has witnessed significant investments in the aerospace and aviation defence sectors, with companies such as Lockheed Martin Corporation, GE Aviation, and Boeing establishing operations in the city. Furthermore, the state government promotes the aerospace sector through seven SEZ parks in Hyderabad.
