Safran to Establish State-of-the-Art Aircraft Engines MRO Facility
Safran SA, the renowned French aerospace leader, is gearing up to establish one of its largest aircraft engines maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities in Hyderabad, India. Spanning over 23.5 acres with a built-up area of 36,500 sq ft, the facility will be situated in the GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park SEZ. Expected to service 300 engines annually by 2035, construction is scheduled to commence in September 2023, with operations set to begin in 2025, creating approximately 1,000 job opportunities at its peak capacity.
GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ Ltd (GHASL), a subsidiary of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), has signed a land lease agreement with Safran Aircraft Engines Services India Pvt Ltd (SAESIPL) for the establishment of engine maintenance and repair facilities catering to Safran's LEAP turbofan engines.
This milestone project marks Safran's significant investment in India's future, offering critical capacity to support airline clients while strengthening their foothold in the country's aerospace sector. The new facility adds to Safran's existing presence in the GMR Aerospace & Industrial site's SEZ region, solidifying their commitment to advancement and excellence in aviation.
