Padma Awards Presented to 71 Individuals at Rashtrapati Bhawan

Droupadi Murmu, President, Government of India, conferred the Padma Awards to 71 recipients during a ceremony held at Rahtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. The awards honored individuals for their contributions in diverse fields such as arts, public service, science, and sports.
This ceremony marked the first phase of the 2025 Padma Awards presentation and included four Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan, and fifty-seven Padma Shri recognitions. L Subramaniam, Violinist, renowned for his work in the arts, received the Padma Vibhushan award. The late Osamu Suzuki, former CEO, Suzuki Motor Corporation, was posthumously awarded the same honor for his contribution to trade and industry.
Shekhar Kapur, Filmmaker; Nandamuri Balakrishna, Actor and Andhra Pradesh Legislator; S Ajith Kumar, Actor; and the late Pankaj Udhas, Singer, were recipients of the Padma Bhushan award. P R Sreejesh, Former Indian Hockey Goalkeeper, was also recognized in this category.
Padma Shri honors were presented to Jaspinder Narula, Singer, for her contributions to music and similarly to Ravichandran Ashwin, Cricketer, for his contributions to sports. Vedic scholar Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid was awarded for his role in religious event planning, including ceremonies at Ayodhya and Kashi. Stephen Knapp, an American Author, was honored for promoting Vedic literature and spirituality.
