NSL Sets New Production and Dispatch Records in April 2025

NMDC Steel Ltd (NSL), an advanced steel plant, recorded its highest-ever production and dispatch figures across key units in April 2025, registering notable growth across its operations.
The Sinter Plant led the way with 3,41,381 tonnes produced, up 10.8 percent from its previous best of 3,08,146 tonnes. The Blast Furnace followed with 2,30,111 tonnes of hot metal, an 8.5 percent month-on-month increase. The Steel Melting Shop (SMS) also saw growth, producing 1,92,453 tonnes of liquid steel and completing 1,067 heats, improving by 7.7 percent and 5.7 percent, respectively.
The Thin Slab Caster produced 1,87,670 tonnes of crude steel, an increase of 6.4 percent, and the Hot Strip Mill delivered 1,83,679 tonnes of HR Coil, a rise of 6.3 percent. NSL also hit its highest-ever shift output in SMS, with 20 heats and 3,586 tonnes in one shift.
Amitava Mukherjee, Chairman and Managing Director, NMDC and NMDC Steel Ltd, said these milestones reflect the strength of a young plant proving its mettle. “It’s a reminder that nation-building begins with strong foundations, and NSL is ready to shape the future of steel in India,” he said.
On the dispatch front, HR Sheet dispatches rose 58 percent to 5,424 tonnes, and Liquid Nitrogen dispatches reached 1,008 tonnes, a 39.6 percent rise. NSL also launched its first commercial dispatch of 5.99 tonnes of Naphthalene.
