Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, claims that India will become the world’s largest vehicle market in five years. His remark comes as India has surpassed Japan to achieve third place on the list of the world’s major vehicle markets.
China currently retains the top spot on the list, with the United States coming in second. He pointed out that the country’s automobile industry is currently worth INR 7.5 lakh crore, has produced 4.5 crore jobs, and pays the most Goods and Services Tax (GST) to the Central and State Governments.
The Minister believes that the country’s vehicle industry will be worth INR 15 lakh crore by 2028, and the Indian car industry’s rise will help the country become a superpower and the world’s number one economy in the future. He also emphasized the importance of transitioning to greener and cleaner fuel sources and stated that India imports fossil fuel worth INR 16 lakh crore every year, and that green hydrogen and ammonia are future fuels, with the Government’s goal of making India an energy exporting country.
