Nestlé Boosts Make in India Initiative with INR 900 Cr Plant in Odisha
Nestlé, the Swiss Food and Beverage (F&B) conglomerate, is establishing a new plant in Odisha, providing a significant boost to India’s local manufacturing push. Nestlé India, the local subsidiary of the Vevey, Switzerland-based firm, has already received approval from the Government.
The company has picked a spot in Odisha’s Khurda district, near the state capital Bhubaneswar, for a manufacturing unit that will mostly create packaged food items. It intends to invest roughly INR 900 crore in the packaged goods plant and employ nearly 800 employees, making it Nestlé's tenth manufacturing plant in India.
With its sales quickly increasing in recent years, Nestlé India established its ninth plant in Sanand, Gujarat, last year with an investment of more than INR 700 crore to scale up local manufacturing of its popular Maggi instant noodles, which is part of Nestlé India’s INR 2,600 crore capex project.
