Morocco Targets 45 Percent Growth in Indian Market by 2024
The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) has reported 41 percent year-on-year growth in the Indian market as of June 2024, reflecting a strong start to its operations in India. This momentum is expected to reach 45 percent growth by the end of the year.
Globally, Morocco attracted 7.5 million tourists in the first half of 2024, a 15 percent increase from the previous year. Setting a target of 15.5 million visitors by the end of 2024, MNTO further aims to attract 100,000 Indian tourists by 2026.
The growth in the Indian market is attributed to active engagement with the Indian travel industry, including successful roadshows in Delhi and Mumbai, and participation in OTM 2024. These efforts have increased Morocco’s visibility as a travel destination. MNTO also organized familiarization trips for Indian tour operators to experience Morocco firsthand.
Jamal Kilito, Country Manager, MNTO-India, expressed confidence in Morocco’s potential to attract more Indian visitors, highlighting plans to target the MICE sector and explore collaborations with the Indian film industry to further increase Morocco’s appeal.
