Lubrizol to Establish Technology and Innovation Center in Maharashtra

Lubrizol, a science-based company that develops solutions for mobility, well-being, and modern life, has revealed its plans to establish a Technology and Innovation Center in Maharashtra. This center will be the company’s first technology and innovation facility worldwide. The goal of the center is to advance innovation, encourage collaboration, and boost the market launch of new solutions for Lubrizol and its customers across industries.
The facility will facilitate and integrate research and development functions, consolidating lab capabilities and expanding on the success of existing Centers of Excellence in the region. It will also house a Customer Experience Center which will allow the company to work closely with customers and partners to develop new solutions. Equipped with advanced analytical tools, automation, and digital technologies, the center will support research efforts and decision-making for next-generation innovations.
Bhavana Bindra, Managing Director - India, Middle East and Africa, Lubrizol, explained that the company has been innovating for nearly a century, and the new center is a symbol of the company’s continuous efforts toward innovating in the region, in particular.
Bindra stated that by bringing together expertise from multiple business facets, the facility will serve as an important hub for collaboration, automation, and technological advancements. Choosing Maharashtra as the location was a strategic decision that is expected to improve coordination with key stakeholders and operational efficiencies, according to Dr Rahul Misra, Senior Director of Technology - India, Middle East, and Africa, Lubrizol.
Rebecca Liebert, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lubrizol, also noted that the center will align with the company’s broader strategy of creating interconnected innovation hubs worldwide. Liebert pointed out that India’s innovation teams have already contributed to significant advancements and received global recognition, and the new center will work on building on these achievements.
This project is a part of the company’s broader investment strategy in India, which includes a US$ 350 million commitment made over the past 18 months. Recent investments include manufacturing expansions, the development of the world’s largest chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) resin plant, and the launch of a Global Capability Center in Pune.
