Lokesh Machines Forays into Defence Sector
Lokesh Machines, a manufacturer of CNC machines and auto components, has established a new division to manufacture defence and aerospace components by investing INR 100 crore in a greenfield manufacturing site here.
G Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Adviser to Union Defence Minister and Former Chairman, DRDO, inaugurated the new division in Medchal, appreciating the company’s achievements and emphasizing the importance of focusing on exports and developing a global footprint in the development of small guns.
Small guns were developed with the help of ARDE, a division of DRDO, and the Indian Army, and trials were successful. The new division was founded in response to the Government of India’s call for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and it is investing more than INR 100 crore in the first phase. Once exports commenced, the investment would increase. The company is also constructing a vendor park around the facility, thereby generating a vendor ecosystem, and aiding in the development of precision parts for small guns. Commercial production is set to begin soon.
