Lenskart, a leading Indian eyewear company, is set to invest INR 1,500 crore in building the world’s largest manufacturing plant for eyewear in Hyderabad’s Fab City. This massive undertaking will employ 2,100 people and cater to both local and international markets, including Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Speaking during a ceremony to commemorate one year of the Telangana Government led by Revanth Reddy, Amit Chaudhary (Co-Founder, Lenskart) made the announcement. Chaudhary penned the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister for IT, E&C, Industry & Commerce and Legislative Affairs, Govt of Telangana, in an endeavor to establish Telangana as one of the leading investment destinations.
Lenskart considered multiple states before selecting Telangana, citing its ease of doing business and efficient government support as key factors. Chaudhary praised the state’s proactive approach, which expedited land allocation in Fab City. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, IFS, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (TGIIC), Government of Telangana, confirmed that Lenskart would soon occupy the plot.
While the facility will comprise production of eyewear, lenses, and accessories for export and domestic markets, it will also house a research and development (R&D) center to enhance Telangana’s profile as an innovation hub in India. This substantial investment reflects growing industry interest in Telangana, driven by its policies and robust infrastructure.
