INOX Air Products Commissions Green Hydrogen Plant at AIS Facility

INOX Air Products, a leading manufacturer of industrial and medical gases, has inaugurated its first green hydrogen manufacturing plant at Asahi India Glass Ltd’s (AIS) greenfield float glass facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. The plant, powered by solar energy, is viewed as a significant step in sustainable glass production.

AIS has entered into a 20-year agreement with INOX Air Products for a steady supply of green hydrogen. The facility will produce up to 190 tons of green hydrogen annually through electrolysis, with an initial phase supplying 95 tons per annum. INOX Air Products is responsible for the plant’s design, engineering, installation, and continuous operations.

Siddharth Jain, Managing Director, INOX Air Products, highlighted the environmental benefits, stating that the green hydrogen supply to AIS would reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1,250 tons per year. This agreement will also focus on playing an impactful role in India’s transition to cleaner energy.

Rupinder Shelly, Chief Operating Officer-Architectural Glass, AIS, emphasized the company’s sustainability goals, noting that the new plant is a reflection of it. Shelly states that since 94 percent of the power requirements at Soniyana are fulfilled through green energy, the company will continue to invest in sustainability, circularity, and decarbonization.

AIS’s Chittorgarh, Rajasthan facility, developed with technology support from AGC Europe, will manufacture high-quality float glass for automotive and architectural applications. The collaboration with INOX Air Products ensures the integration of green hydrogen into the production process.
