India’s Mobile Phone Export Growing
Mobile phone exports from India are poised for a significant upswing, reaching US$ 50-60 billion, a substantial increase from last year’s US$ 11 billion, according to Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information and Technology.
He stressed that a decade ago, India imported 98 percent of mobile phones. However, 99 percent of devices are now manufactured in India. In this context, he highlighted that employment in the electronics manufacturing sector is set to soar from 10 lakh to 25 lakh in the near future. He emphasized that India is on the course of becoming the third-largest economy by 2027.
