India’s Largest Private Rail Coach Factory Inaugurated in Telangana
The largest private rail coach factory in India was inaugurated by K Chandrsekhar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana, in Kondakal village, Rangareddy district, near Hyderabad.
Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd, a Telangana company, built the facility. Coaches, train sets, locomotives, Metro trains, and Monorails will be developed at the 100-acre plant. In the first phase, INR 400 crore was invested, and INR 805 crore is proposed for the project. 558 people have been hired, 500 have benefited indirectly, and 1,000 more will be hired soon.
Medha Servo Drives will complete coach manufacturing for the monorail project by the end of the year and plans to manufacture railway products for India and the world in the second and third phases. It is also making Indian Railways bogies and Mumbai Monorail train sets. Medha Servo Drives has also formed a joint venture (JV) with Swiss railway rolling stock manufacturer Stadler Rail of Bussnang, Switzerland, to build a rail coach factory in Telangana. The projected Telangana Unit will serve Indian tenders and exports to Asia-Pacific customers.
