India’s Drone Industry Set to Achieve INR 900 Cr by 2024
Drone startups in India rose 34.4 percent from 157 to 221 between August 2021 and February 2022. Drone manufacturing revenues are expected to reach INR 900 crore in FY24, up from INR 60 crore in FY21.
After liberalizing drone policies in the Drones Rules 2021, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Civil Aviation of India, wants India to be a worldwide drone powerhouse by 2030. An INR 120 crore PLI Scheme clearance, a drone import prohibition to stimulate domestic industry, and the drone certification system are major advances.
Digital airspace mapping and initiatives like Drone Shakti and Kisan drones are considered positive steps. These developments aim to create jobs, help a bureaucracy-hampered industry, and encourage investment. Significant finance and smart investments indicate India's drone ecosystem's future expansion.
Indian drone startups Aero360, Amber Wings, Asteria Aerospace, Garuda Aerospace, ideaForge, Skye Air, Skylark Drones, TechEagle Innovations, TSAW Drones, UrbanMatrix, and Vecros cover diverse areas, from healthcare delivery to logistics and industrial solutions.
