IIFT to Open First Overseas Campus in Dubai

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) revealed the establishment of its first international campus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, marking a significant milestone in its 62-year journey. The move supports India’s goal of expanding its global presence in higher education.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, made the announcement, confirming that all necessary approvals have been secured from the Ministry of Education, as well as No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, and the University Grants Commission (UGC) have been received.
Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, called the development a key milestone in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He said it marks a new chapter in the internationalization of Indian education and highlights the strengthening ties between India and the UAE.
Sunil Barthwal, Secretary, Department of Commerce, Government of India, noted that the new campus represents India’s role as a provider of top-quality education, especially in international trade. He emphasized IIFT’s continued alignment with national priorities in teaching and research.
Prof Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor, IIFT, thanked the various stakeholders for their support. He stated that the Dubai campus would help transform IIFT into a globally recognized institution by focusing on excellence in education, training, and research in international trade.
