Lenskart has officially begun construction on the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing facility at Tukkuguda, near Hyderabad. The development comes less than three months after the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Telangana Government to invest INR 1,500 crore in the project.
The facility is designed to be an integrated facility that will handle all areas of eyewear production, including frame and lens fabrication. It will cater to both domestic and foreign markets, particularly in Asia and the Middle East.
Amit Chaudhary, Co-Founder, Lenskart, led the ceremony, which witnessed the attendance of D Sridhar Babu, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs Minister, Government of Telangana. Peyush Bansal, CEO and Co-Founder, Lenskart, praised the event as a big step forward in the company’s dedication to further enhance eyewear production through technology and innovation. The first phase of the facility, which spans 50 acres, is anticipated to open in late 2025 and will generate approximately 2,100 employment opportunities. Once fully operational, the plant is expected to produce over 200,000 glasses each day. The facility will also have high degrees of automation to ensure effectiveness and compliance with high-quality standards.
