Hyderabad Realty Sector Takes a Green Turn with 50 Eco-Friendly Projects
Real estate developers and companies in Hyderabad registered 50 projects with the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) on Earth Day. The projects are expected to add an 80-million sq ft green footprint to the city. On the occasion, CII and IGBC organized a program called ‘IGBC’s Green Crusaders’ at the CII-Green Business Centre in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad is the starting point of the IGBC’s green building movement, which has helped India achieve 10.26 billion sq ft of registered green footprint across more than 10,700 projects, making it the world’s second-largest registered green building footprint.
C Shekar Reddy, Chairman, Hyderabad Chapter, IGBC, and President, CII Telangana, thanked Credai for its recent pledge to partner with IGBC to construct 4,000 green projects by 2030 and welcomed Naredco and Telangana Builders’ Federation (TBF) to contribute to the green building movement. CII IGBC will be hosting ‘Green Property Show 2023’, India’s first and exclusive expo displaying IGBC green certified/pre-certified projects, green products, and technologies, on July 29-30 in Hyderabad. K Ravi Kumar, Senior Environmental Engineer, Telangana State Pollution Control Board, praised IGBC Green Certification for its guidelines on achieving more than mandated green features. Talks between TSPCB and CII were reportedly underway to bring incentives for green buildings.
