Himachal Pradesh Government to Establish 11 Ecotourism Sites
Himachal Pradesh has designated 11 ecotourism sites to improve sustainable tourism in conjunction with the Himachal Pradesh Eco Tourism Society. The goal is to showcase the region’s natural beauty and boost economic growth through responsible tourism.
A key meeting between Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and the Himachal Pradesh Eco Tourism Society stressed the necessity for extensive ecotourism development. The selected sites—Neugal Park, Swaar, Bir Billing, Saurabh Van Vihar, Kheerganga, Kasol, Sumarupa, Shogi, Narkanda, Sojha, and Potter Hill—cover different forest divisions from Palampur to Shimla.
To preserve and sustain these assets, each location receives a one-hectare protected area with a reserve price. The minister hopes to expand these initiatives beyond 11 places, revive tourism, and provide local self-employment. The Himachal Pradesh Government has allocated INR 16.67 crore for two eco-tourism projects, reflecting a holistic approach to executing sustainable eco-tourism initiatives. These endeavors signify a promising step towards responsible and lucrative tourism in Himachal Pradesh while maintaining an environmental balance.
