Gruner Renewable Energy Launches Kisani Urjaa to Transform Agritech Sector

Gruner Renewable Energy, one of India’s fastest-growing renewable energy companies, has entered the agritech sector with the launch of Kisani Urjaa Pvt Ltd (KUPL). With an investment of US$ 1 million, the new venture aims to enhance Indian agriculture through digital innovation and sustainable solutions. KUPL focuses on increasing farm productivity, improving agricultural waste management, and ensuring easy access to essential farming services.

India produces around 620 million metric tons of agricultural waste annually, yet only 25-30 percent is effectively used for fodder or energy production. Stubble burning, a major contributor to air pollution, remains a pressing issue. KUPL seeks to address this challenge by offering efficient waste management solutions that empower farmers while promoting sustainability.

Utkarsh Gupta, Founder & CEO, Gruner Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd, highlighted the strategic importance of this initiative. He noted that the Union Budget 2025-26 has allocated approximately INR 1,37,000 crore to agriculture, with initiatives like the ‘Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’ aimed at uplifting farmers in low-productivity regions. He emphasized that KUPL aligns with these national efforts by focusing on productivity, rural empowerment, and environmental sustainability.

Gupta further stated that Kisani Urjaa is committed to helping farmers clear fields on time, cut costs, and adopt eco-friendly practices. The company is targeting INR 100 crore in revenue for FY 2025-26, aiming to create a cleaner and more prosperous future for farming communities.

KUPL specializes in the sustainable collection and management of paddy straw and other residues, offering eco-friendly alternatives to traditional disposal methods. Their key initiatives include assisting farmers in field clearance for subsequent crop cycles and promoting environmental conservation through sustainable practices.

To streamline feedstock collection, KUPL has launched the Kisani Mobile App, allowing farmers to register and list available residues for easy pickup. This technology-driven approach helps farmers monetize waste while reducing environmental impact, fostering a more sustainable and profitable agricultural sector.
