German Firms Eye Indian Partnerships in Manufacturing Push

As India becomes the fourth-largest economy this fiscal year, German companies are increasingly seeking local partners to provide future technologies to the manufacturing sector. The German companies aim to help Indian businesses improve production in areas including green energy, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals.

Rainer Wittich, Chief Executive Officer, EDAG Production Solutions GmbH & Co KG, highlighted India’s potential, noting its talent and market growth. He considers India to be a growing market with a wealth of talent. He added that the company is ready to support Indian firms looking to scale up in new sectors like electrolyzers and pharma.

The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), along with EDAG Group’s Indian arm, hosted a networking event in New Delhi to explore business partnerships. Stefan Halusa, Director General, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, highlighted three main reasons for Germany’s growing interest: India’s local market growth, its scale, and its capabilities.

Halusa also pointed to India’s emerging role in research and development (R&D), stating that many global capability centers are making India a hub for innovation, which is attracting German firms. He stressed the importance of a Free Trade Agreement between India and Europe, calling it a potential game changer.
