Exhibition on Indian Coal Sector's Future
Under the patronage of the Ministry of Coal, Indian National Committee World Mining Congress organized the first-ever National Coal Conclave & Exhibition - 2022 in New Delhi. The event was woven around the theme of 'Indian coal sector - Sustainable mining towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat'.
The conclave, held on October 16-17, 2022, brought together policymakers and stakeholders to determine the future direction of India's Coal sector. The event was inaugurated by Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon'ble Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs.
Addressing the conclave, he stated that coal dispatch to the Power sector has increased 16.7 percent over last year (April-Sept) to 356 MT and that India is prepared to meet rising global coal demand. He launched Coal India Ltd's 2nd tranche of closed and discontinued mines at the conclave and stated that reopening these mines would boost India's coal production. In addition, an agreement signing ceremony for the development and production of coal blocks was held. An agreement was signed for ten coal mines that were auctioned during previous tranches.
