Unveiled in the presence of Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Communications of India, the new antenna is set for commercial rollout in June and to start shipping globally in July.

It is a long-term investment in terms of capability, talent, and technology, according to Mikael Eriksson, Head, Ericsson Antenna System. He further stated that their advanced passive antennas are critical for the global execution of 5G, and their increased India operations place them to meet changing demands of customers in a timely manner.

Ericsson’s local antenna manufacturing unit, which was developed in just a year, now features an integrated ecosystem of domestic sourcing, production, and engineering, where more than 50 percent of the antenna’s content is produced locally.

The initiative will assist Ericsson to speed up innovation, support regional customization, and scale more rapidly to satisfy demand internationally. The new antennas are configured to be high-performance 5G networks, energy efficient, and low cost to deploy.

As per Nitin Bansal, MD, Ericsson India, India is quickly emerging as a global center of high-tech manufacturing, and this investment empowers the domestic telecom ecosystem, supporting India’s role in shaping the future of connectivity. The antennas will meet the Ericsson standards in terms of quality globally and will cater to the requirements of both Indian and global markets.
