ELGi and Amrita University Introduce Scholarship for Future Engineers

Elgi Equipments Ltd, an international air compressor manufacturer, has recently partnered with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, an Indian private university, to launch the CATALYST Scholarship Program. The program will begin in the 2025-26 academic year.

This fully funded program is designed to support 20 academically outstanding students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. It will provide aspiring engineers with a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering, hands-on training, and a guaranteed career placement at ELGi.

Dr Jairam Varadaraj, Managing Director, Elgi Equipments Ltd, emphasized the company’s belief in education as a transformative force. Varadaraj explained that the CATALYST program not only focuses on providing financial assistance but also creates opportunities, encourages talent, and equips future engineers with leadership and innovative skills. He highlighted that the program reflects the company’s vision to ensure students receive world-class education and a clear career path.

Prof C Parameswaran, Principal Director, Corporate and Industry Relations, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, praised the company for its proactive investment in future technological leaders. Parameswaran’s take on the program is that it supports students financially and also provides industry exposure and assured employment. This program is a clear example of the impact of industry-academia partnerships.

The scholarship entails tuition, accommodation, and learning materials. It combines core engineering principles with business fundamentals and provides hands-on training at Elgi Equipments Ltd. Students must pass the Amrita Engineering Entrance Exam (AEEE) and ELGi’s aptitude tests to qualify for the program.
