ebm-papst Expands Production Capabilities in India

Recognized as a global market leader in fan and motor innovation, ebm-papst Inc has announced a major investment to expand its local production capacities in India. With India’s rapid growth, the country has been deemed an important market in the company’s Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (APAC & MEA) strategy.
To support the planned production expansion, the company has acquired a 57,600 sq mt plot located in Chennai. The first phase of the upcoming expansion will cover 23,000 sq mt and includes an investment of EUR 36 million. The production plant is expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
According to Atul Tripathi, Managing Director, ebm-papst India, the company’s investment reflects its long-term vision for India. “By boosting local production, we are not only catering to the growing demand of our Indian customers but also creating sustainable employment opportunities that contribute to the country’s industrial development,” Tripathi shared. Upon completion, the plant will employ around 700 people.
Dr Klaus Geissdoerfer, Chief Executive Officer, ebm-papst Group, emphasized the company’s approach, stating, “As a technology leader, we are leveraging our glocalization strategy ‘local for local’ to serve the APAC & MEA region with tailored solutions.” Thomas Nuernberger, CSO, ebm-papst Group and CEO, Air Technology APAC & MEA, explained that localizing production and strengthening supply chains will help the company respond quickly to customer needs.
