Demand for Female Apprentices in Manufacturing Sector Rise
According to TeamLease Skills University's degree apprenticeship program, there is a threefold increase (500 percent) in demand for female apprentices in manufacturing sector, as compared to the previous quarter. Regions like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra (Aurangabad and Pune), Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Haryana all showed this pattern to be prevalent.
With companies implementing gender-neutral strategies, manufacturing businesses are embracing diversity by giving people in apprenticeships equal opportunity. Key industry sectors like automobiles, auto components, and electronics are leading the way, eliminating pay disparities.
TeamLease expects a similar trend in sectors like pharmaceuticals, telecom, and white goods. Women apprentices are sought after for roles in machine operations, particularly assembly line tasks.
The growing apprenticeships will foster a balanced society and sustainable economic growth, empowering women through skill development and equal opportunities. Government initiatives like Skill India Mission and National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) play a vital role in encouraging women's participation and unlocking India's female workforce potential across various sectors.
