DefExpo 2022 Focuses on Self-reliance in Defence
The 12th edition of DefExpo 2022 was inaugurated by Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on October 19 at Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre (MMCEC) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. With the theme 'Path to Pride', the Expo witnessed 451 MoUs and agreements worth `1.53 lakh crore signed.
During the event, the Prime Minister said the Defence Expo showcases Indian defence manufacturing and exports defence equipment and products to over 75 countries. In 2021-2022, Indian defence exports reached US$1.59 billion, up eightfold in five years. Furthermore, he added that the country hopes to boost defence exports to US$5 billion soon.
Around 1,300 defence companies from over 50 countries were represented at the Expo. The show housed MGS, 25-Tonne Light Tank, Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhaP), Trainer Aircraft HTT-40, Ballbot, and EyeRov Tuna.
