Dastkari Haat Crafts Bazaar in Hyderabad Enthralls Craft Enthusiasts

Dastkari Haat Samiti a not-for-profit hosted Hyderabad's first traditional Indian craftsmanship showcase at the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Gachibowli, from February 21-28, 2023.  

Over 80 artists from Bihar and Rajasthan exhibited at the Bazaar. It featured Pattachitra artist demonstrations, Pichwai gold leaf embossing, Bihar Madhubani art, Rajasthan miniature and terracotta art, and others. Indian handicrafts included grass mats, bags, wood and shell kitchen and dining accessories, herbal soaps, and jewelry.  

The artists showed mostly biodegradable and eco-friendly products. Dayal Bhatt, a well-known folk musician from Rajasthan, and his group performed at the exhibit, in addition to performances of Kalbelia dance, Rajasthani puppetry, and folk songs.
