CREDAI and CII – IGBC Renew Memorandum of Understanding
Confederation of Indian Industry - Indian Green Building Council (CII - IGBC) and the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) have renewed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement was signed at CREDAI’s NATCON 2024 event at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney, Australia. The partnership focuses on encouraging developers to adopt green technologies in their real estate projects.
C Shekar Reddy, National Vice Chairman, CII Indian Green Building Council, remarked that this partnership will play a key role in positioning India as a global leader in sustainable building by 2025. CREDAI, with its 13,300 members across 230 city chapters, will work to integrate IGBC’s Green and Net Zero standards into over 4,000 real estate projects by 2030, contributing to the creation of 400,000 green housing units nationwide.
Boman R Irani, President, Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI), highlighted the importance of promoting sustainability in real estate. Speaking on the MoU, M Anand, Deputy Executive Director, CII IGBC, noted that the collaboration would bring economic, social, and environmental benefits.
IGBC’s mission aims to achieve 100 percent net zero embodied carbon by 2050 for new buildings and infrastructure. The partnership will also create a task force to lead these green initiatives and keep stakeholders informed.
