Caracal, ICOMM Open Small Arms Factory in Hyderabad
Caracal International LLC, a subsidiary of EDGE Group and a UAE-based world-renowned small-arms manufacturer, joined hands with India’s ICOMM Tele Ltd—part of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL)—for advancing Indian defence production and furthering the country’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. This collaboration culminated with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art small arms production facility at ICOMM Tele’s Integrated Engineering Facility in Hyderabad, resulting from a landmark technology transfer deal with CARACAL.
The production facility will manufacture an extensive assortment of advanced firearms that will serve both Indian armed forces and international export customers. It will produce the CAR 816 and CAR 817 rifles in combination with bolt-action sniper rifles CSR 338, CSR 308, and CSR 50; the compact CMP9 submachine gun; and the newest CARACAL EF and F GEN II pistols.
Sumanth Paturu, Managing Director, ICOMM, emphasized that the facility honors both the nation’s forces and Prime Minister Modi’s self-reliance vision for India. He further said that the company manufactures products with purpose, pride, and precision that serve both India and global markets. Hamad Alameri, CEO, Caracal, went on to label the facility as the first such landmark achievement in UAE-India defence collaboration history. Successful trials by the Indian army and Special Forces qualifications—as per Alameri—allowed the company to solidify its position in the developing Indian defence sector. The facility will also support Caracal’s global supply programs by establishing India as a key hub for international defence production.
