Bharat Mandap Among Top 5 Most Admired Pavilions at Expo 2025

India’s Pavilion, named Bharat Mandap, has been ranked among the top five most admired pavilions at the ongoing World Expo 2025, taking place in Osaka, Japan. The event has gathered over 160 countries and 9 international organizations, with an approximate of more than 28 million visitors expected.

Competing alongside strong pavilions like those of the United States, France, Italy, and Japan, the Indian Pavilion has impressed visitors and officials with its blend of ancient cultural heritage and modern aspirations.

For the first time, the Ministry of Culture is leading the Pavilion’s curation, with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) overseeing its execution. Dr Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA, noted that the Pavilion reflects India’s ancient knowledge systems, modern technological aspirations, and growing global footprint.

Located in the ‘Connecting Lives Zone’, Bharat Mandap showcases India’s progress in areas such as the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Ayurveda, and sustainability. It also offers interactive experiences, including cultural performances, yoga sessions led by Indian Acharyas, and Indian cuisine.

Japanese locals and international visitors have praised the Pavilion’s design, which incorporates meaningful symbols like the Padmapani Bodhisattva, a Blue Lotus façade, and the Bodhi Tree Installation. These elements highlight themes of peace and global unity.

Joshi expressed that the Bharat Mandap is a space where tradition meets transformation, where the eternal Indian spirit engages with the global future. The Pavilion will remain open until October 13, 2025, as part of Expo 2025’s broader theme—Designing Future Society for Our Lives.
