BGR Tech Partners with Stargate Hydrogen to Advance Green Hydrogen in India

BGR Tech Ltd, a Prenora Investment holding company in India, has formed a strategic partnership with Estonian firm Stargate Hydrogen to introduce advanced alkaline electrolyzer technology to the Indian market. The two companies formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Priyadershini Raghupathy, Founder & Chairperson, BGR Tech Ltd, and Marko Virkebau, CEO & Board Member, Stargate Hydrogen.
The partnership will integrate Stargate Hydrogen’s Stellar Series Alkaline Water Electrolyzer (AWE) into BGR Tech’s pilot plant in Chennai. The Stellar Series AWE, designed for high efficiency and low maintenance, operates at pressures of up to 32 bar and can achieve a single stack capacity of up to 100 Nm³/h (500 kW). This electrolyzer will be used alongside an Ultra-Pure Water Treatment Unit, a Gas Separation Unit (GSU), and a Hydrogen Purification System (HPS) to enhance hydrogen production efficiency. BGR Tech aims to produce green hydrogen at this facility by May 2025, using the plant as an R&D tool to improve system reliability and performance.
The Stellar Series electrolyzer was recently unveiled by Marje Luup, Estonian Ambassador to India, at India Energy Week 2025 in New Delhi. This collaboration aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, with both companies committed to supporting sustainable energy solutions. Additionally, they plan to explore local manufacturing opportunities in line with the ‘Make in India’ policy.
