India’s electronics manufacturing sector will employ 10 lakh people by 2025-2026. According to TeamLease Degree Apprenticeship—India’s first and largest Degree Apprenticeship Programme—demand for apprentices in the sector increased 93 percent in the fourth quarter of FY22-23 to keep up with this growth.
Smartphone Assembly Technician and Assembly Line Operator are two popular jobs in this business, paying graduates INR 15,500 and diploma holders INR 15,100, respectively.
This expansion is due to rising consumer demand, the ‘Make in India’ policy, and a strong startup ecosystem. The Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) system is anticipated to enhance domestic manufacturing and jobs by adding US$ 401 billion in production over five years. Apprenticeships are a key to closing the skills gap in the burgeoning electronics industry because they give students hands-on experience and technical skills for high-demand jobs.
