Apple Inc Expands Supplier Network in India

Apple Inc is strengthening its supply chain in India by engaging with local manufacturers. Wipro Enterprises (P) Ltd and LMW Ltd are the latest companies in discussions to join the iPhone maker’s growing list of suppliers.
The discussions are progressing at different stages, with Apple Inc reportedly in advanced negotiations with Wipro Enterprises, while initial talks are underway with LMW. A source noted that Apple Inc is collaborating with these companies to source components and parts as part of its broader strategy to enhance supply chain efficiency and reliability.
Wipro Enterprises operates through its subsidiaries, Wipro Infrastructure Engineering and Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting. The former provides engineering solutions in hydraulics, aerospace, automation, and water treatment, while the latter specializes in consumer goods and lighting products.
Industry experts view Apple Inc’s move as a step toward optimizing logistics, streamlining operations, and building a more resilient supply chain. Dhruv Shekhar, Senior Associate, Koan Advisory Group, noted that Apple Inc’s participation in India’s production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme has played a key role in increasing exports and manufacturing output.
He also pointed out that with the government considering an incentive program for electronic components, Apple is well-positioned to expand its local partnerships, benefiting both its business and India’s manufacturing sector.
According to Shekhar, the company’s localization strategy not only provides regulatory and financial advantages but also reflects its long-term dedication to India. By increasing its production base, the company aims to improve supply chain security while strengthening India’s role in its global operations.
This initiative follows the company’s earlier discussions with Bharat Forge Ltd, a Pune-based company under the Kalyani Group, to supply mechanical components, further expanding its supplier network in India.
