APCRDA Officials Trained in Green Building Practices

Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), held a Capacity Building Programme for over 50 officials of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, to support the state’s Net Zero by 2040 and the Swarna Andhra 2047 goal.
The program was held at Fortune Murali Park, Vijayawada, with a strong focus on IGBC’s Green Building Rating Systems. The program zeroed in on encouraging government departments to adopt green building norms across all future infrastructure developments.
In his keynote address during the program, K Kanna Babu, IAS, Commissioner, APCRDA, expressed, “Andhra Pradesh is fully committed to building a sustainable future, with Amaravati envisioned as a model green capital.” He added, “As a testament to this commitment, we aim to achieve green and Net Zero building certification for the upcoming APCRDA Head Office in Amaravati.”
Vijay Sai Meka, Chairman, IGBC Amaravati Chapter, remarked on APCRDA’s exemplary leadership in implementing IGBC Green Ratings. “This collaboration stands as a model for how public agencies and green building councils can work together to drive measurable environmental impact,” he noted.
The program was held at a strategic time, with Andhra Pradesh making significant efforts toward green urbanization. Amaravati’s Master Plan earned IGBC’s ‘Platinum’ rating in 2018, and flagship APCRDA projects such as the Integrated State Secretariat and Happy Nest, along with several private developments, are actively pursuing IGBC Green Building certifications.
Embodying the essence of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with APCRDA, IGBC continues to support the state’s green transformation through regular training and organized awareness sessions.
