With the upcoming World Food India (WFI) 2025 show, scheduled for September 25–28, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) hosted an Ambassadors’ Meet at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, to discuss the event’s overseas participation.

P S Gangadhar, Joint Secretary (Economic Diplomacy), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, set the stage for the discussion with a warm welcome to delegates and highlighted the event’s global significance. The meeting, chaired by Avinash Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (FPI), Government of India, brought together ambassadors, high commissioners, chargés d’affaires, and senior representatives from 51 countries.

Officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), and event partners Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Invest India, and Ernst & Young (EY) also participated.

As outlined by Joshi, the event will host buyer-seller meets, thematic and technical sessions, large-scale exhibitions, and dedicated pavilions on sectors such as alcoholic beverages, hotel/restaurant/cafe (HORECA), post-harvest technologies, and food processing and packaging machinery. According to the Secretary of FPI, these sessions are expected to facilitate business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-government (G2G) engagements, encourage collaborations, and strengthen industry-specific partnerships.

Representatives from various embassies acknowledged the event’s importance and confirmed plans for strong participation from their respective countries. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries emphasized that World Food India 2025 will adopt a ‘whole-of-government’ approach, involving multiple ministries, government bodies, and commodity boards to ensure the event’s success.
