US Consulate General in Hyderabad's New Facility a 'Tangible Investment'
The United States Department of State has hailed the opening of a new state-of-the-art facility for its Consulate General in Hyderabad as a 'tangible investment' in the growing US-India bilateral relationship. According to Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson, the facility, located in Hyderabad's bustling Financial District Nanakramguda, will bring the US government closer to American companies that have invested billions of dollars in India's tech, defence, aerospace, and pharmaceutical sectors.
The move also reflects the Consulate's key role in linking businesses and people from the US and the Indian states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha, Patel said. The facility, with a budget of US$340 million, has been designed to pay respect to the local landscape and preserve historic monuments through the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation. The new consulate will also host numerous visitors, including those for joint exercises by the US and Indian militaries based out of India's Eastern Naval Command. Hyderabad is home to five of the world's highest valued companies-Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Meta-which have their largest presence outside the US in the city.
