UFI Awards ‘Medal of Honour’ to Industry Icons
UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, in commemoration of its centennial year, has re-launched its legacy medal of appreciation as the ‘UFI Medal of Honour’. The award will honor three individuals annually and was first handed out at the UFI Global Congress in Cologne, Germany, to recognize the outstanding contributions to the global exhibition industry and the UFI community. Sandy Angus, President (2001-2003), UFI, was recognized for over 50 years of service, but particularly for his leading role in forming modern UFI. Mary Larkin, UFI’s first female president (2020-2021), was honored for the leadership she displayed during the pandemic and for her work on gender diversity. Lastly, Kai Hattendorf, CEO (since 2015), UFI, received the medal for his transformative leadership through economic and global challenges.
Geoff Dickinson, President, UFI, described the medal as a tribute to those who have shaped the organization’s legacy, saying, “Every association can only be as good as its members, and UFI's uniquely strong position in the event industry results from outstanding individuals putting their hearts and minds into it.” The medal, crafted by renowned French company FIA Médaille, comes with a certificate of recognition and a special lapel pin. UFI’s Medal of Honour not only restores a historic tradition but also underlines the organization’s commitment to acknowledging excellence in exhibition business and industry.
