Telangana’s IT Exports Surge 31.44 Percent; Hyderabad to Lead IT in 10 Years: KT Rama Rao
Telangana’s IT and IT-enabled services exports rose 31.44 percent in 2022-23, according to the Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications Department’s annual report. The state’s IT exports climbed by INR 57,706 crore to INR 2,41,275, according to KT Rama Rao, Minister for IT, Industries, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Govt of Telangana. Telangana’s IT employment rose 16.29 percent to 9,05,715 in 2022-23 from 7,78,121 in 2021-22, with 1,27,594 new jobs. The report found 5,82,319 direct IT jobs in the new state since its formation.
The state’s IT exports increased from INR 57,258 crore in 2014 to INR 2,41,275 crore in 2023. Telangana’s 2022-23 IT exports rose by 31.44 percent, while the nation’s rose by 9.36 percent.
Last decade, Telangana had 27.6 percent of IT jobs, but in 2022-23 it accounted for 44 percent of new IT jobs in 2022-23, or 1,27,594 out of 2,90,000. The minister emphasized that when the state was united, Andhra Pradesh contributed less than 10 percent of net new IT employment in India, but today it contributes 30-40 percent.
With this pace and positivity, Hyderabad will be India’s largest IT presence and compete with the best in the world in 5 to 10 years, he added, detailing the state’s most successful investments.
