PM Modi Launches Major Health Projects Worth INR 12,850 Crore
On the occasion of Shri Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Government of India, virtually inaugurated a series of health projects valued at over INR 12,850 crore from All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi.
This significant event also featured the virtual inauguration of a new medical device manufacturing plant by Meril Life Sciences India Pvt Ltd, an Indian-based global medical device company, in Vapi, Gujarat. The Prime Minister was joined by Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister, Government of Gujarat, and Kanubhai Desai, Minister of Finance, Energy, and Petrochemicals, Government of Gujarat.
Chief Minister Patel visited Meril Park-1, where he explored advancements in medical manufacturing, including facilities dedicated to heart valves, stents, cancer research, and surgical robotics. The visit also included Meril Studio, where the Chief Minister was briefed on various medical devices, including trauma and orthopedic implants, and the country’s first robot designed for knee replacement, the MISSO Robotic System.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the ‘Merai Data Center’ at Meril Academy, which aims to use artificial intelligence to improve patient care, drug research, and diagnosis accuracy worldwide.
As part of efforts to improve healthcare access, PM Modi announced that Ayushman cards will now be available to citizens aged 70 and above, with eligibility verified through Aadhaar and ration cards. In line with this initiative, Chief Minister Patel distributed Ayushman cards to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) in Valsad, along with e-vaccine certificates.
To further enhance healthcare services, PM Modi launched the U-WIN portal, which will provide comprehensive vaccination information for pregnant mothers and children up to age 16 nationwide. The event also included screenings of short films that highlighted the significance of Ayurveda, the pharmaceutical sector, and the new U-WIN portal.
