Pepper Motion’s Mega Investment in Indian EV Sector
Pepper Motion GmbH, a German-based bus and coach firm, is set to put up a unique electric bus & truck cluster worth approximately INR 4,640 crore at Punganur, Chittroor district, Andhra Pradesh.
The entire cluster, spanning over 800 acres, is slated to make it the world’s largest electric vehicle cluster. The ambitious project will be divided into three phases and lead to a vertically integrated plant which will produce 30,000 buses as well as 18,000 heavy and light commercial vehicle units in total.
This includes the assembly of new battery electric vehicles (BEV) and retrofitting diesel vehicles with associated charging solutions, expected to be completed by Q3 2027. The facility will also house a 20 GWh battery pack assembly unit, serving as a global sourcing base for the company’s partners and operations worldwide. The project aims to generate employment for 8,100 technicians and engineers.
