NTPC Plans to Commission Telangana STTP by End of FY

National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) Telangana Super Thermal Power Plant (STPP) is expected to be commissioned before the end of the current fiscal year (2022-23). The NTPC plant at Ramagundam, which was delayed due to COVID-19 and the re-engineering of the boiler to meet new environmental standards, among other factors, is now nearing completion.

The first phase of the Telangana STPP (2X800 MW) has been delayed by 31 months, according to Union Minister of State for Power and Renewable Energy R K Singh, and the actual expenditure incurred and accrued to date was within the approved project cost of '109.98 billion. He also claimed that the first unit of the project was in an advanced stage of commissioning and that the process would likely be authorized by the end of the current fiscal year following the completion of steam blowing and related advanced commissioning activities.
