Lenovo Expands Local Manufacturing in India

Lenovo, the Chinese tech giant known for manufacturing desktops, PCs, and Motorola smartphones in India, aims to boost local production in response to the country’s growing importance in its global strategy.

The company, evaluating the production of servers locally, seeks to leverage India’s production-linked incentive scheme for IT hardware amidst US regulatory restrictions. Matthew Zielinski, President - International Markets, Lenovo, highlighted India’s significance due to its connectivity-driven growth and skilled workforce, with plans to double job creation.

With 1,700 employees and three manufacturing sites in India, Lenovo eyes expansion, including the production of servers and the export of PCs worldwide. Vlad Rozanovich, President, Infrastructure Solution Group, Lenovo, emphasized India’s role in offsetting US-China trade restrictions, particularly in data center products manufacturing.

Lenovo aims to deepen its manufacturing capabilities in India to enhance economic efficiency, logistics, and sustainability, positioning itself for exponential growth in the next five years.
