JKTPO Seals Lucrative Deals at GI Fair India 2023
The Geographical Indications Fair India 2023 (GI Fair 2023), organized by the Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts (EPCH), witnessed resounding triumph as the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) took center stage. Showcasing the region's exquisite Geographical Indications (GI) products, the event was held at India Export Mart, Greater Noida, attracting national and international buyers, traders, and enthusiasts.
Under the astute guidance of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, JKTPO's participation aimed at enhancing market access and boosting exports of niche products from J&K.
With an impressive display of GI-registered products like Hand-knotted Silk Carpets, Kani Shawls, Pashmina Shawls, Saffron, Basohli Painting, and Basmati, the event facilitated lucrative business opportunities. J&K exhibitors generated more than 500 business leads, with on-the-spot retail sales amounting to INR 25 lakh.
Drawing special attention were exhibitors Ajaz Ahmad Malik and Irfan Amin from Srinagar, who secured noteworthy deals worth INR 70 lakh with buyers from Kuwait and Oman for the esteemed Pashmina Rumaal, a traditional headscarf highly regarded in GCC countries.
Vikramjit Singh, IAS, Commissioner Secretary Industries and Commerce, Jammu & Kashmir lauded the exhibitors' efforts and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support. He pledged to continue participating in such platforms, proudly showcasing Jammu and Kashmir's rich cultural heritage, and driving economic growth through its distinctive products.
